Angus was born in Stutterheim where he completed his schooling. He studied at Rhodes University completing his BCom LLB in 1988 before spending a working holiday travelling Europe. He joined Bate Chubb & Dickson Inc. in October 1990 and specialises in all aspects of property law, conveyancing, estate planning, trusts, commercial contracts and pre-nuptial contracts.
Angus is married to Hiki, a teacher and has two children, Vaughan and Abigail. He completed the Comrades Marathon in 2000, and is a keen paddler, having recently completed the PE2EL Surfski Challenge, and the Dusi Canoe Marathon.
Lindesay was born in Port Elizabeth. She attended Rhodes University where she obtained a BA degree, then a BA Honours in English at the University of Port Elizabeth. After which she studied for her B Proc and LLB at Unisa.
Lindesay has practised at Bate Chubb & Dickson since 1995. She is involved in Conveyancing and manages the Estates Department. She has also been involved in lecturing at the local Law School in the Wills and Estates course. She was the Legal Accounting lecturer and national examiner in 2003.
She is married to Denis and they have four children.
Jason was born in East London on 18 September 1973. He matriculated from Selborne College, East London in 1991. He attended Rhodes University in Grahamstown from 1992 to 1996 where he obtained firstly his BA and thereafter an LLB. He joined Bate Chubb & Dickson in 1997.
Jason was a keen rugby player but has now hung up his boots and is a keen participant in triathlons having represented the Buffalo City team on numerous occasions at South African Triathlon Championships and having furthermore completed both the half and full Iron Man.
Jason is married to Nina and has two daughters, Courtney and Alex and two sons, Josh and Connor.
Melanie (neé Allen) was born in Springs, Gauteng in 1985. She moved with her family to East London in 1994 and matriculated from Clarendon High School for Girls in 2003. While at school Melanie served on the Interact Board and Junior City Council. She was elected Junior Mayor of Buffalo City (2002-2003). Mel enrolled at Rhodes University, Grahamstown and obtained a BA degree in 2006 and a LLB degree in 2008.
In 2009 Mel joined Bate Chubb & Dickson Inc. as a Candidate Attorney. After completing her articles she was admitted as an attorney in January 2011 and Bate Chubb & Dickson offered her a position as a Professional Assistant. In January 2014 Mel was promoted to the position of Associate and subsequently on 1 September 2015 was appointed as a Director.
Mel is a High Court litigator. Her practice areas mainly consist of Road Accident Fund matters, Personal Injury law and Divorces.
Melanie is married to Martin and they both enjoy the outdoors including camping, fly fishing as well as wine tasting.
Paula was born in East London in 1984 and attended school in Windhoek, Namibia. She returned to East London in 2000. After school she attended Rhodes/Fort Hare University where she obtained a BA degree in 2005 and an LLB degree in 2007. She attended the East London School for Legal Practice in 2008 where after she commenced articles at a local law firm.
After completing articles in 2009 she went on to pursue a Masters of European, Economic and International Law at the Saarland University in Saarbrúcken, Germany. Here, she was selected to represent the University at the International European Simulation Debates which were held in Antwerp, Brussels. Whilst completing her degree she completed a long-distance advanced course in Corporate Law through UNISA.
After completing her LLM she returned to East London and worked at a local law firm. Paula was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in April 2010. In 2013 she was appointed as a chairperson of the South African Tax Board which position she still holds. She also lectures Matrimonial Matters at the School for Legal Practice and serves on the Committee of the East London and Mdantsane Attorneys Association.
Paula joined the Bate Chubb & Dickson team in October 2018 as a Director. Her areas of practice consist mainly of Road Accident Fund, personal injury and family law.
Paula is fluent in English and German. In her spare time she enjoys casual golf.
